Wine tasting at the Ignaz Niedrist winery or that of Franz Gojer? The winemaker Markus Prackwieser from the Gumphof in Völs and the local winery Kellerei Cantina Terlan or Weingut Tenuta Abraham?

Which of these manufacturers are on our list to visit regularly?

We chose Marlies and Martin Abram from the Abraham winery.

A friend and long-time customer of ours received a bottle of wine as a gift last Christmas. More specifically, a bottle of Gewürztraminer Upupa Orange. This aromatic, spicy, very dry wine has edges but also character. Michele fell in love with this wine and asked the concierge to organise a visit to the wine cellar with a small tasting.

Perfect, organised visit, Michele gathered a few friends. These friends of his are the owners of a well-known wine shop in Vicenza.

Upon arrival at the hotel, a nice surprise: Michele brought me a bottle of Lessini Durello Nostrum as a gift. One of only 300 magnum bottles produced. This wine will find a special place in our wine cellar. The bottle must rest until Christmas, then the concierge will share it with loved ones.

When we arrived at the Abraham estate we were greeted by Marlies with whom we took a short walk through the vineyards surrounding the estate. The cellar is Martin's environment with the first tasting straight from the barrel.

After a brief exchange of technical details about winemaking in the wine cellar, we sat down in the actual tasting room. Three wines on the program... Since we are a group of wine lovers and connoisseurs, we have not stopped tasting and commenting on each wine. Nine wines in total!!!

When we arrived at the hotel at lunchtime, the extensive menu consisted of Tyrolean starters with bacon, cheese and smoked sausages, Schlutzkrapfen, beef cheeks with lagrein with vegetables and mashed potatoes, tarte aux pommes. Everything accompanied by these wines: Stocker Brut Natur, Sauvignon Quartz 2018, Pinot Noir 2016 Punto di Abraham and finally a Gewürztraminer Passito Cantina Andriano. And of course the apple distillate: Gravensteiner apple brandy from Stocker Algund.

The return home with the sleepy passengers and the driver, who arrived home and was able to enjoy the wine Abraham had bought in peace. How did the tasting of the wine we brought go?
